Public hearing: add drone operations centers as a permitted use in the Collins/Arapaho innovation district

Final Zoning ZF 24-33Ordinance No. 4537Ordinance No. 4322

What this is

Council will hold a public hearing and consider an ordinance amending the Collins/Arapaho TOD & Innovation District Planned Development (PD Ordinance No. 4322) to add "Drone Operations and Maintenance Center" as a permitted use in the Employment Sub-District, establish supplemental use requirements for that use, and add definitions of "Drone" and "Drone Operations and Maintenance Center (DOMC)." The amendment covers approximately 1,144 acres generally east of Central Expressway, bounded by Campbell Road to the north and Arapaho/Collins Boulevard to the south.

Why it matters

This change would open a large innovation district to commercial drone operations and maintenance facilities, potentially shaping the type of businesses that locate in that part of Richardson.
